The Don Banks Afternoon Variety Show: REMEMBERING GLEN
The Don Banks Afternoon Variety Show
REMEMBERING GLEN
After an absence of two-and-a-half years, the hugely popular Afternoon Variety Show is to return to Darwen’s Library Theatre in September.
The show’s return will be a poignant occasion as it will pay tribute to regular host and organiser Glen South who died in November last year. He compered the show for over a decade and there are plans to show some highlights from his career on the big screen at the theatre.
There will also be a recognition of the variety afternoon’s original host, now retired Darwen comedian Don Banks.
The show will run on the first Wednesday of every month from 2pm to 4.30pm and the line-up will include a great mix of comedy, music and song plus some speciality acts recreating the golden age of the music hall.
It is hoped that the afternoon variety show will act as a showcase for local artists and anyone interested in taking part in a future show can contact bfmaevents@gmail.com.
The fun, relaxed afternoons, which had become a popular fixture on the Darwen calendar, were halted by the Covid pandemic but we are pleased to confirm they are soon to return.!
