Pride in Place funding

FOR DARWEN TOWN CENTRE

Darwen is benefitting from Pride in Place funding from the government; it’s all about creating thriving towns and fostering stronger and safer communities. 

The pilot scheme, the “Darwen Community Fund”, was awarded to 12 successful applicants in March 2026:

  • Anyon Street Bowling Green and Social Club 
  • Derwent Hall 
  • Darwen Cricket Club 
  • Sunbird Records 
  • Darwen Heritage Centre 
  • Darwen Youth Zone 
  • Junction4 Skatepark 
  • Hoddlesden Millennium Green 
  • The Parochial Church Council of St James Over Darwen 
  • The Making Rooms at Darwen Youth Zone
  • Launchpad (a partnership between Blackburn College, Newground Together and Darwen Youth Zone)
  • Newrad Fisheries

  1. The Promoter: The promoter of this prize draw is Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council, Town Hall, Blackburn, BB1 7DY.
  2. Eligibility: The prize draw is open to all UK residents aged 18 or over, except employees of the Promoter who are directly connected with the administration of this competition.
  3. How to Enter: * Survey Route: To enter, entrants must complete the ‘Let’s Talk Darwen’ survey and provide their full name, phone number, and postcode. One entry is permitted per person via this route.
    • Free Entry Route: Alternatively, you can enter for free by emailing your full name, address (including postcode), and telephone number to info@discoverdarwen.co.uk. Free entries are limited to one entry per household per month.
  4. Campaign Period: The competition runs monthly from May 2026 until August 2026. The closing time for entries each month is 23:59 on the final day of that calendar month (31st May, 30th June, 31st July, and 31st August 2026). Entries received after these times will not be counted in that month’s draw.
  5. The Prize: The prize is £50 in Shop Darwen vouchers per month. Vouchers will be provided in multiples of £10 and can be spent at any participating Shop Darwen business. The prize is non-exchangeable, non-transferable, no cash alternative is available, and no change will be given by participating businesses.
  6. Winner Selection: One winner will be chosen at random from all eligible survey and email entries pooled together for that month. The draw will take place within 7 days of the closing date.
  7. Winner Notification & Announcement: * Winners will be contacted directly via the phone number provided upon entry.
    • Winners will also be announced by the 14th day of the following month via the Darwen Town Centre website and Facebook page (e.g., May’s winner will be announced by 14th June 2026).
  8. Claiming the Prize: Winners have 14 days from the date of direct notification to respond and claim their prize. If a winner cannot be contacted or does not claim the prize within 14 days, the Promoter reserves the right to withdraw the prize from that winner and select a replacement winner at random from the remaining eligible entries for that month. Vouchers will be made available for collection within 14 days of the winner successfully claiming their prize. Vouchers carry a 3-month expiry date from the date of issue.
  9. Publicity and Data Protection: * To comply with the UK Code of Non-broadcast Advertising and Direct & Promotional Marketing (CAP Code), the Promoter must publish or make available information that indicates a valid award took place.
    • If you object to your surname and town being published, please contact info@discoverdarwen.co.uk. In such circumstances, the Promoter must still provide the winning entry details to the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) upon request to prove the promotion was run fairly.

  10. General:
    • The Promoter is not responsible for inaccurate prize details supplied to any entrant by any third party connected with this competition.
    • The Promoter’s decision in respect of all matters to do with the giveaway will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
    • This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Facebook, Instagram, or any other social network. You are providing your information to the Promoter and not to any social network.
    • The competition and these terms and conditions will be governed by English law and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England.
