The 2021 festive season kicked off in Darwen with the fantastic lights switch on event on the weekend of the 20th and 21st November. We hope you enjoyed the Crafty Vintage Christmas Markets and fantastic entertainment from Lancashire Dance Academy, Darwen School of Music, Just Imagine UK, plus Kiki deVille and our headline act, Boyz on Block.
It is indeed the season to shop local and support Darwen’s wonderful small businesses.
The #shopdarwen scheme is still going strong – remember to ask for a £5 entry form if you spend £5 or over at a participating business. If you fill out your form and post it in the postbox in Darwen Market Annexe, you will be in with a chance of winning the next prize draw! And £50 worth of vouchers to spend at Shop Darwen businesses would give you a lovely boost this January.

Give the kids something to do while you’re Christmas shopping!
Santa has lost his reindeer, and they are taking shelter at nine Shop Darwen shops. Each business has a window sticker with the name of their reindeer on – all your child needs to do is tell Santa which reindeer is at which shop, so he can retrieve them safely.
Collect a worksheet from any of these nine businesses, and begin the trail! Remember to bring a pen, and we advise you to check opening hours online before you start.
Children will get a small treat and be entered into a prize draw if their completed worksheet is handed into Sweet Vintage, too! More info here.
Darwen Market is always a hub of festive activity during December, from traders offering everything you need for a wonderful Christmas, to free festive family events, Darwen Rotary Club’s Grotto, and even a giant letter-to-Santa postbox!
