We can’t wait for the Easter holidays here at Darwen Market!
We’re bringing you two weeks of creative and vibrant springtime fun for the whole family to enjoy – so you’ll be able to keep the kids entertained all holiday. What’s more, every activity is totally free.
There’s a diverse range of events this Easter, from crafting workshops to singing and storytelling – they’ll be something to capture the imagination of every child.
Here’s a full rundown of what’s in store this Easter holiday in Darwen town centre…
Mon 3rd April, 11:30am till 3pm – Make & Take Home: Puppetry Craft Workshop with Caroline Yawa Ada
Join expert puppet maker Caroline Yawa Ada in building your very own rooster puppet to make and take home.
Caroline will talk you through the stages of creating your puppet using a recycled plastic bag and then she’ll teach you how to manipulate it to help bring your creation to life.
This is a very simple puppet utilising recycled materials for all ages and abilities. Please bring a recycled plastic bag – all other materials are provided.
Drop in when you can and enjoy!
Weds 5th April from 11am till 3pm: Make & Take Home: Vegetable Printing Workshop with Rachel Wood.
Join patternmaker Rachel Wood in creating patterns and prints with ink and vegetables.
Design and print your very own pencil case, exploring texture and patterns with the vegetables readily available in our wonderful market.
This is a FREE drop in activity running from 11am until 3pm.
Saturday 8th April from 11am: Watch Live Shows: Stupid Stories for Silly Sausages with Gav Cross
Gav Cross is a storyteller and a very silly man with lots of silly stories!
Beware though, Gav likes telling horrible stories to lovely children and lovely stories to horrible children… funny storytelling for the whole family!

Weds 12th April, 11am till 3pm – Make & Take Home: Bookbinding Craft Workshop with Rianon Francis
Join mixed media artist, Rianon Francis, as she leads a bookbinding workshop for all ages to enjoy.
All materials will be provided, and Rianon can tailor her session for every age and ability level.
This is a FREE drop in activity between 11am and 3pm, come and earn a new skill or hone a craft!
Fri 14th April from 11am – Create Together: Siobhan Sings with Siobhan Donnely
Come and join song leader Siobhan Donnelly for some fabulous family singing!
Fill your lungs and get ready to belt out some harmonies. From raucous rounds to super sea shanties, we’ll take a tour around the world via the magic of melody. There’ll even be a chance for you to help write some of the songs we’ll sing!
Singing sessions start at 11am, 12.30pm & 2pm, we look forward to seeing (and hearing!) you there.
Sat 15th April from 1:30pm – Watch Live Shows: The Naughty Flock of Sheep with The Fabularium
The Master’s Sheep have gotten out again!
They can be seen frolicking together almost anywhere and everywhere, and wherever they go mayhem isn’t far behind. They’re fun, they’re friendly, and frankly a little bit cheeky…
So hang on to your hats, umbrellas, pushchairs, and even your snacks, as the Naughty Flock of Sheep are out and about!
This is a FREE event with walk-abouts in and around the market from 1:30pm, come and watch while you do your weekend shopping.
