We’re here to answer some frequently asked questions about this year’s Christmas lights switch on! Have a read, share with friends and leave us a comment on Facebook if you need any more info…
When does the fun begin?
The event begins bright and early at 10am, when the festive markets open in Darwen Market Square. Entertainment in the square will also be taking place from 10am onwards.
Is Father Christmas Storytelling sold out?
Yes, the free tickets for Father Christmas Storytelling were very popular and got snapped up quickly. But don’t worry, as Father Christmas will be telling some jokes on the main stage later in the day!
Is the entertainment only in Darwen Market Square?
Nope! We will also have festive entertainment for you to enjoy on Bridge Street from 11am, including Mr Wilson’s Second Liners, dancing elves and Arthur Geldard music.
Will Darwen Market be open?
Yes! Darwen Market will be open as usual, from 8am till 4pm. Be sure to have a browse inside while you’re in town.
When does the main stage entertainment start?
Entertainment will be taking place on the main stage from 2pm onwards. There’s so much to see, including the ever popular Kiki Deville, Darwen School of Music, Lancashire Dance Academy, Paul Stuart Davies, a mini panto performance and more!
When will the Christmas lights be switched on?
N-Trance will be turning on the tunes and the Christmas lights between 5pm and 6pm, but we recommend coming down before then to enjoy the array of entertainment and to get a good spot on the square!
Will there be fireworks?
There are no fireworks at this year’s event, instead we’ve focussed on bringing together a fabulous programme throughout the day. Fireworks are costly and can be hit and miss depending on the weather. They also divide the opinion; we have had as many people wanting fireworks, as those who do not want them! Rest assured they’ll be more than enough to keep the entire family entertainment.
What time will the event come to a close?
After N-Trance has well and truly got us feeling the music along with the festive vibes, Mr Wilson’s Second Liners will perform on the main stage. The entertainment and markets will then begin to wrap up and be done and dusted by 8pm.
We’re really looking forward to seeing you all enjoy this wonderful day in Darwen Town Centre. We recommend getting down early to get the most of the entertainment and festive fun!
See you on Saturday.
