There’s so much going on in Darwen Town Centre during May – it really is the place to be for all things creativity and culture… An exclusive adidas Spezial exhibition that will bring in fans from all over the UK, free family activities, Darwen Live music festival and a whole lot more in-between, Darwen Town Centre is buzzing with exciting events.
We’ve listed to top things to do in Darwen Town Centre this month so you won’t miss a thing:
DECADE: 17th May – 26th May
DECADE, an exhibition to celebrate 10 years of adidas Spezial opens this Friday, 17th May, at Fourteen Market Street.
The exhibition will be open from noon daily until 26th May and admission is free. All proceeds will go to Nightsafe to support the great work they do with young people in our community.
Fourteen is a brand new cultural venue in the building that was previously Quality Save, we’re excited for you to see this amazing space.

Healthy Darwen: 17th & 18th May
The re:fresh team will be bringing lots of free fun to Darwen Market Square on the Friday 17th and Saturday 18th of May. Free health checks, information stalls, live music, interactive performances, mini movers, a climbing wall and much more!
This celebration of all things health and wellbeing will take place between 10am and 3pm on both days, see you there!
The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride: 29th May
We’ll be welcoming The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride back to Darwen Market Square on Sunday 19th May.
Classic and vintage motorcycle enthusiasts from near and far will be riding from Darwen Market Square to Blackpool Tower to raise money and awareness for prostate cancer research and men’s mental health.
There are over 200 riders already signed up, which means lots of amazing bikes to admire on Sunday!
The riders are expected to begin their journey from Darwen Market Square between 9:30am and 10:30am. Sweet Vintage on Croft Street will be serving refreshments from 8:30am till 11am, get yourself down to the square to support this fantastic cause.
Free activities at Darwen Market: 25th, 29th & 31st May
Three fantastic free family events are taking place during the May half term holiday at Darwen Market.
They’ll be an Arabic Calligraphy workshop, a live show and walkout entertainers. Find out more on the Event Calendar.
Darwen Live: 25th & 26th May
The legendary free music festival, Darwen Live, returns on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th May. Darwen will be full of music and merriment, with both our local community and visitors flocking to the town centre to enjoy a diverse array of live music, with headline performances from Tunde (Lighthouse Family) and Echobelly.
Herbert Parkinson pop-up at Darwen Market: 29th May
The Darwen-based John Lewis soft furnishings manufacturer, Herbert Parkinson, will be popping up at Darwen Market on Wednesday 29th May.
Herbert Parkinson is the last remaining John Lewis Manufacturing Partner in the whole of the UK. They supply everything from curtains to cushions.
Visitors will be able to meet with Partners (employees) during the Darwen Market pop-up, find out about the firm’s history and discuss current job opportunities.
They’ll also be live product demonstrations and activities for children.
The pop-up will be open from 9am till 5pm, don’t miss it!
