Blackburn with Darwen Council is working alongside Deco Publique and the new Darwen Long Term Plan Board to engage with residents and members of the local community – to get to know what you think.
There’ll be in-person events for residents to attend in June as well as an online survey which is currently open to all via the link: Darwen Long Term Plan Board survey
Your views will help to support the delivery of some new funding which has been successfully secured specifically for Darwen. www.blackburn.gov.uk/consultations
We would like you to tell us your thoughts on different aspects of the town – parks and green spaces, the town centre and markets, arts, events, culture and heritage, access, safety and transport.
We want to know what you love about the town and what you want to see more of. Tell us where are the best places and what could be improved upon? www.blackburn.gov.uk/consultations
Deputy Chief Executive of Blackburn with Darwen Council, Martin Kelly, said: “We are determined to get this right for the town.
“We want to make the most of this new funding and spend it on making changes to things that really matter to residents as well as community groups and businesses too.
“The Board is a mix of members who all have strong links to the town and can help make a difference, but we also want our work to be informed by the views of people who are proud to call Darwen home.
“We’re trying to reach as many people as possible. As well as the events, we’ll be working with groups of younger people, older people and reaching out to those members of the community who may not typically take part in something like this.
“Deco Publique – the team behind the National Festival of Making – are helping and they’ll make the sessions fun and interactive, while getting the very most out of each one to help inform the investment plan which is a Government requirement.”
Want to come and chat in person?
You can take part at any of these events:
- Thursday 13 June – Darwen Cricket Club – 2 hour workshop 6.30pm till 8.30pm

- Saturday 15 June – Darwen Market hall – 9am till 4.00pm – drop in session – come and see us
Martin added: “We have to submit our plan to Government by August 1st so we hope to see lots of residents at the events.
“This is a chance for you to play your part by sharing your views on what and where this new funding could be invested.
“We’ve also been running a project portal too for people with specific project ideas. The deadline for that is June 10th so there’s still time to take part.”
You can find out more about the project portal here.
