After three weeks sitting majestically on Darwen Market Square, we bid farewell to the giant wheel on Sunday 2nd March.
The feedback on the wheel has been fantastic, and we have thoroughly enjoyed seeing the community’s photos of their rides on the wheel that have been shared on social media.
Darwen Town Centre also ran a weekly competition, where we gave away one family ticket each week. A huge highlight for us was the competition we did in collaboration with Culturapedia and the free half term activity at Darwen Market. We invited attendees of the Seed Bomb Making Workshop at the market to either draw a picture of or write a poem about the giant wheel. We were blown away by the entries!
The winning entry was a beautifully written poem by James age 9, we see a literary future ahead for this talented young man:
Culturapedia also wanted to give special mention to two giant wheel fantastic drawings. Although we could only give one prize away, we have to give a special mention to the two illustrations that Culturapedia picked as runners up:
Thank you to Archie and Ariana for your wonderful artistic interpretations of the giant wheel!
We’d love to see your photos or drawings of the big wheel if we haven’t already, share them with us on Facebook or Instagram.
