Blackburn with Darwen Council Partners with Culturapedia to Deliver Family-Friendly Activities in Blackburn and Darwen Markets
Blackburn with Darwen Council is pleased to announce its ongoing collaboration with Culturapedia, a Blackburn-based cultural organisation, to deliver an exciting family-friendly holiday activity programme at Blackburn and Darwen Markets. This initiative reflects the Council’s commitment to providing accessible, engaging cultural experiences for local families and strengthening the community’s cultural offering.
Councillor Quesir Mahmood, Deputy Leader of Blackburn with Darwen Council and Executive Member for Growth and Development said:
‘We are delighted to share that, through this partnership, Blackburn with Darwen Council has successfully bid for and received funding from Arts Council England to support this project for the third consecutive year. This funding will ensure the continuation of high-quality arts and culture activities that will benefit both residents and visitors to the area until the end of February 2026.’
Co-founded by Rob Howell & Sue Robinson and joined by Lyndsey Wilson, Stephie Jessop, Lewis Gallagher and, not forgetting Alfred the dog, the Culturapedia team is innovative and dedicated to creating impactful cultural projects that engage audiences and provide high-quality artistic experiences.
The partnership with Culturapedia, an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation, highlights the Council’s ongoing efforts to bring arts and culture closer to the heart of the community. Culturapedia’s approach is centred around co-creation, collaboration, and inclusivity, which aligns perfectly with the Council’s values of community-driven development. By working together, we can create meaningful and accessible activities that engage children, families, and communities in a fun, educational, and inclusive environment.
Culturapedia Co-founder, Rob Howell said:
“The family-friendly activities are held at both Blackburn and Darwen Markets, two iconic locations at the heart of our town’s social and cultural life. The programme aims to encourage families to enjoy the rich cultural experiences available locally, while also showcasing the talent of local artists and performers. These activities will play an important role in energising the town centres, providing an opportunity for families to connect, learn, and have fun together in their local communities.”
Blackburn with Darwen Council is proud to work alongside Culturapedia to bring this exciting initiative to life. With the support of Arts Council England, we are confident this project will have a lasting impact on local families and strengthen Blackburn and Darwen’s cultural offering for years to come. We look forward to continuing this successful partnership and exploring future opportunities for community engagement through the arts.
