Have you enjoyed seeing our festive window art at Fourteen Market Street over the festive season?
With a cheerful Christmas tree, friendly snowman, stockings, presents, and of course, Santa and his sleigh, it’s the very epitome of Christmas!
The window art was done by Lucie Cooke, the talented artist behind The Big Summer Draw and the autumn window project, but did you know the story behind its design?
The story begins at the autumn window at Fourteen. Around 60 children joined Lucie back in September to create an awesomely autumnal piece of community art work. As well as helping Lucie draw pumpkins, leaves and toadstools, the pupils from Avondale Primary School and Ashleigh Primary School took part in our “design the Christmas window” drawing competition. They were invited to draw whatever makes them feel festive, whether that’s fairy lights, a nativity scene or favourite characters such as The Grinch.
Lucie then picked a winning design to base the Christmas window art upon. With so many beautiful drawings to choose from, it wasn’t an easy decision! But Lucie finally decided on the super festive design by Jasmine, a pupil at Ashleigh Primary School.
It’s easy to see why Jasmine’s entry was the winner, and Lucie did a fantastic job at transferring the pencil drawings onto the window at Fourteen Market Street.
Jasmine was awarded with £20 of #shopdarwen vouchers for winning the competition, which she can spend at any participating retailer.
Well done Jasmine, your fantastically festive Christmas creation has certainly added plenty of festive cheer into Darwen Town Centre this December.
Happy Christmas everyone!
