We are so excited to announce that a brand new stall will soon be opening on Darwen Market! Husband and wife team, Nandor and Agota, will be bringing the people of Darwen an authentic taste of Hungary with their stall, Budapest Lángos, which will be serving delicious Hungarian street food.
Classic Hungarian lángos
Lángos, pronounced “LAHN-gauche”, has been a popular dish in Hungary for centuries, and is sometimes dubbed “Hungarian pizza”. It’s made from deep-fried sourdough and can be served with a variety of tasty toppings – but it’s always best eaten fresh and warm. To begin with, Nandor and Agota will be keeping it classic, serving their lángos with salt and/or garlic, or with sour cream and/or grated cheese. The beauty of lángos is its simplicity and versatility, and the duo plan to introduce new options and varieties in the future. Lactose-free options will also be available for those who require them.

Hungarian pancakes and fresh lemonade
In addition to lángos, customers can enjoy Hungarian pancakes, or palacsinta, with traditional fillings. Palacsinta are crepe-like pancakes, and popular fillings include cottage cheese with vanilla sugar and zesty lemon peel. Again, Nandor and Agota plan to introduce more options and flavours soon. Fresh homemade lemonade will also be on offer – the perfect refreshing drink to enjoy alongside these Hungarian delicacies.
A plastic-free stall
Nandor and Agota have wanted to open their own food stall for a long time, and are very excited to bring Hungarian street food to Darwen – they hope you’re looking forward to trying their menu! As well as supplying the people of Darwen and local areas with tasty food, another priority of theirs is to have a sustainable, plastic-free stall. Therefore, all utensils and cutlery will be made from paper, including paper cups, straws, trays and bags.
Spread the word!
We can’t wait for Budapest Lángos to open – there has already been an excellent response on Facebook, so we expect the stall to be busy with curious customers! The stall will be located in the Annexe – more updates to follow on the opening date. Please like/follow Budapest Lángos on Facebook and Instagram and spread the word to show your support.
