There is a fun filled weekend of events coming up in Darwen Market Square on 11th & 12th September.
You can be entertained by the magic giant bubbles that were so popular over the summer holidays – sessions by our wonderful bubble-ologist will take place at 10am, 12pm & 2pm.
Plus, highly acclaimed theatre company, Eye of Newt, are bringing The Cabinet of Curiosity to Darwen. The Cabinet is a mobile interactive theatre piece, designed to reward the curious and encourage audiences to actively engage with the story.
The narrative reflects familiar experiences of being housebound with young children and becomes a playful adventure tale. The Cabinet will transform during the show, beginning as mundane and domestic and slowly revealing itself as a magical vessel for imaginative play.’The Cabinet of Curiosity’ was commissioned by Spot On Lancashire and the Burnley Community Promoters Group and is brought to Darwen by Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council.
Here is an idea of the treat you are in for;
Sometimes adventure can be found right on your doorstep…
Or inside a cupboard, under a pile of ironing, hidden behind a plant pot, next to the rubber duck. The Cabinet of Curiosity is a little bit familiar, but contains a lot of surprises.
It’s easy to get stuck in a routine – jobs to be done, life gets so busy. The Cabinet has other ideas, it’s here to reward the curious and wants to play. As the story begins to unfold, secrets are revealed and audiences will help to solve the Cabinet’s puzzles.
Are you curious? Ready to explore? The adventure is waiting for you…
The Cabinet of Curiosity theatre performances will take place on Saturday, in Darwen Market Square at 11am, 1pm, 3pm, each performance is 40 minutes long, and there is no need to book this free event.
